I am delighted to say that the book cover I had the pleasure of illustrating in August/September 2014 for Noel Sweeney is with the printers! To see the cover close up and some of the individual dogs please go to my portfolio page.
Some little Valentines cards I have made. Available to buy from Room212 along with many of my prints and illustrated greetings cards. Happy Valentines for Saturday! xxx
Along with Dale the Darlek! I took part in Window Wanderland on Saturday 7th Feb, it was a brilliant experience. So great to see hundreds of people out enjoying the displays. Boston Tea Party brought along free tea, coffee and cake which went down a treat! And I had a little stall selling my prints and cards with 30% going to Children's Hospice South West. It was lovely to meet people and chat about my work. Many thanks again if you made a purchase. Looking forward to next year's event already! Well done Lucy and the Window Wanderland team.
Throughout December I took part in a group show at 123 Space, a fantastic new gallery in Stokes Croft, Bristol. I didn't get a chance to write at the time however I wanted to say a little about it. The gallery is run by volunteers from LoveBristol and a percentage of all sales went to this not for profit to develop the gallery and the pop up bakery run in the same building. There was a great selection of artists showing work, the lead artist was Barry Lewis. Barry creates fantastic sculptures from found, second hand and scrap metal objects. He creatively and skilfully turns anything from silver spoons to bike parts in to stunning works of art, see the picture featured of a beautiful bird made from silver cutlery. Also taking part was fantastic children's illustrator Jesse Hodgson whose beautiful seal illustration was one of the first pictures to sell. I would like to thank LoveBristol for inviting me to take part and congratulate all the artists that took part in this successful first exhibition. LoveBristol hope to have more shows in 2015 which I look forward to letting you know about. The gallery can be found at 123 Cheltenham Road, Stokes Croft, Bristol. It is at the crossroads of Cheltenham Road, Ashley Road and Nine Tree Hill. I have some new work on display at Bristol Guild Gallery as part of the So What Collective's exhibition 'Miscellany'. The new work is part of a series called Divers. It is inspired by my time in Fiji, my friend Richard and his resort Matava, the wonders of diving and the beautiful creatures of the deep blue. As well as framed and unframed prints for sale I have new greetings cards as shown above. The new illustrations can be seen more clearly in the portfolio section. The Exhibition runs Mon-Sat 10am-5pm until and including Sat 2 August.
Pictured above is the beautiful enchanted forest window display at room212. I am delighted to report that this fantastic shop/gallery has just started stocking some of my illustrations. It's a proud moment to to have work on display alongside some of North Bristol's finest artists. room212 is a real treasure trove of prints, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, crafts and more, well worth a visit!
The fabulous team at WiseOceans asked me to design them some rash vests to keep them safe while snorkelling and to help promote their good work. I spent many a happy hour drawing marine creatures and doing front and back of vest designs. Above are the real vests beautifully modelled by the WiseOceans crew in sunny Seychelles where they are currently helping to save the marine environment. Below is the final back of vest design for the Seychelles, as well as another design that was loved but not used this time around. I had to depart from my usual use of colour and texture as the printer and I agreed that outlines would screen print and survive wear and tear most effectively. Check out WiseOceans website for more info on this fantastic organisation.
